Two Legends of Stage and Radio Raise Funds for Nottingham Families

The University of Nottingham’s Lakeside Arts has long been recognised for its programme of amazing theatre and dance productions for children and families. Over 21 years Lakeside has welcomed thousands of families to enjoy a wide range of theatre experiences from stage adaptations of popular children’s literature and productions designed specifically for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities, to unique interactive experiences like the NESTA and National Gallery funded HOME:Zero which was co-designed by local families.

On 10 February, Lakeside presents An Audience with Kenneth Alan Taylor, a very special fundraiser featuring a legend of the Nottingham stage and hosted by another legend of broadcasting with all proceeds going towards providing free tickets to families who may not otherwise be able to enjoy the magic of live theatre.

Kenneth has spent a lifetime in theatre, as a manager, writer, director and performer. He was awarded a BEM in the Queen’s Birthday honours list 2021 for his exceptional services to theatre, including 30 years as pantomime Dame in his own productions at Nottingham Playhouse.

Kenneth will reflect on his long and illustrious career, liberally laced with great anecdotes, in conversation with broadcasting legend, former controller for BBC Radio 1, presenter of BBC Radio4’s Last Word and alumnus of the University of Nottingham, Matthew Bannister.

This promises to be a hugely entertaining evening – and all for a good cause. Through ticket sales and additional donations, Lakeside aims to raise £6,000 and if successful, this will be matched by an anonymous donor, providing more than 1,000 theatre tickets to Nottingham families over the next year.

Tickets cost £30 each and can be booked via Lakeside’s website or by calling its Box Office on 0115 846 7777. Ticket bookers can also make an additional donation during the booking process or on the evening of the event. Those not able to attend the event but that would like to donate can do so by contacting Lakeside’s Box Office.
