As we mark our 25th year anniversary, Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire (MNN) takes immense pride in reflecting upon the remarkable achievements and contributions made over the past quarter-century. With the support of the business community in our region, we have played a pivotal role in shaping Nottingham and Nottinghamshire’s identity, promoting its unique attractions, and driving economic growth.

Securing Global Recognition:

Throughout the years, MNN has successfully secured PR and press coverage for the region, reaching an astounding audience of nearly 3.5 billion people worldwide. Our strategic collaborations with international, national, and local media outlets, including Conde Nast Traveller, The Metro, The Guardian, TV ESPN Brazil, ITV, and BBC, have amplified the visibility of Nottinghamshire on the global stage.

Empowering Tourism Through Digital Innovation: The Visit Nottinghamshire visitor-facing website is the shop front of our region and demonstrates our commitment to leveraging digital platforms to promote Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Since its launch in 2013, the website has attracted nearly 40 million visitors, with over 15,000 events promoted and an events calendar drawing over 15.5 million visitors. Moreover, our content and campaign pages have helped over 23.9 million individuals in planning their next visit to Nottinghamshire.

Guiding  and Helping Visitors: our dedication to enhancing visitor experiences is clear through the production and distribution of over 400,000 visitor guides. These guides, disseminated internationally, nationally, regionally, and locally, have served as invaluable resources for tourists exploring the rich history and cultural scene of our region. Additionally, our Nottingham Tourism Centre has assisted over 2 million visitors, providing guidance and facilitating memorable experiences within our amazing city.

Fostering Collaboration and Success: Nottingham Partners events have served as platforms for networking and collaboration, welcoming over 8,000 guests and generating over £134.4 million of media coverage. These events have highlighted the successes of Nottingham Partners and local businesses, further reinforcing the region’s reputation as a dynamic and thriving destination.

Driving Economic Prosperity: MNN’s initiatives have not only enriched the visitor experience but have also significantly contributed to the growth of the region’s economy. Since 2016, Invest in Nottingham, a division of MNN, has created 7,018 jobs and safeguarded a further 939 jobs, further solidifying Nottinghamshire’s position as an economic powerhouse. The GVA uplift of those new jobs reached over £349 million.

Impressive Growth and Impact: The impact of MNN’s activities is evident in the remarkable growth of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire’s visitor economy. The value of the visitor economy has surged to nearly £22.7 billion, with visitor numbers reaching nearly 458 million. Moreover, tourism-supported jobs have soared to 290 thousand, with a GVA uplift of new jobs reaching £555 million since 2009. 

Looking Ahead: As we celebrate 25 years of accomplishments, MNN remains committed to driving innovation, fostering collaboration, and promoting Nottinghamshire as a premier destination for visitors and businesses alike. With a  focus on sustainable growth and excellence, we look forward to shaping the region’s future for generations to come.


Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire was established 25 years ago on the 30th of March 1999.

The team played an essential role in making the 19th Non-contact Atomic Force Microscopy a success. The NC-AFM 19 welcomed 135 delegates from 20 different countries (including a significant number from Japan, the US, and Australia). Meet in Nottingham supported accommodation side of the conference and provided not only an exciting and eventful social programme, including a choice of engaging excursions, but also gave helpful advice and guidance to delegates with regard to places to see, things to do, and accommodation and travel in Nottingham.
