Charlie Ross and Rachael Evans with Titus T.-rex

Bargain Hunt Team Visits Titus the T. rex for Nottingham Show

The roaring success of the Titus T. Rex is King exhibition at Wollaton Hall grabbed the attention of none other than antiques expert Charlie Ross as he visited Nottingham to film for the latest series of Bargain Hunt.

Bargain Hunt, the popular tv series which sees contestants compete against one another to find the most profitable antiques for auction, is set to feature the Titus T. rex is King exhibition in the upcoming episode based in Southwell airing on BBC Two at 12:15pm on the 23rd of May.

The exhibition showcases the first real Tyrannosaurus Rex to be displayed in England for over a century. The impressive real-life dinosaur stunned the Bargain Hunt presenter with its huge skeleton structure spanning across just one of the many exhibition rooms.

Rachael Evans, Museum Development Manager at Nottingham City Museums and Galleries, said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome Charlie and the rest of the Bargain Hunt team to Wollaton Hall and introduce them to our popular Titus T. rex is King exhibition. Titus definitely took centre stage, he’s the most treasured and charming antique after all!”

The exhibition guides visitors through the journey of Titus’ discovery and how the enormous dinosaur came to find itself homed in the heart of Nottingham after travelling all the way from the Montana Badlands, USA.

Rachael added:

“Everyone who visits is always blown away by the size of Titus when they first enter the exhibition. It’s definitely something you have to see first-hand to appreciate the scale of the dinosaur that once roamed the earth.”

Since the opening of Wollaton Hall’s new Extinction and Evolution exhibition earlier in the year, offering a journey through time into prehistoric past, ticket sales have soared with a huge 30 per cent increase.

Other highlights of the immersive exhibition include hands-free interactive games designed to uncover the myth of whether the T. rex was in fact covered in scales or feathers, as well as many other activities suited for all ages.

Wollaton Hall is also set to host BBC’s Antiques Roadshow on the 7th of June, where the hunt for antiques will continue.

Standard ticket prices for a child are £8.75, adult tickets are £13 and family are £34 (tickets include booking fee). Under threes and carers can enter for free.
