Dr Amy Twigger Holroyd, Professor of Alternative Fashion Systems, Nottingham School of Art & Design at NTU

Active in the field of fashion and sustainability for over twenty years, Professor Amy Twigger Holroyd is a design researcher who creates participatory speculation activities that explore plural possibilities for sustainable post-growth systems.

Her Fashion Fictions project, for example, invites people to create, explore and enact engaging fictional visions of enticing sustainable systems as an unconventional route to real-world change. The project has engaged more than 6000 people in activities spanning six continents and led to the recently published open-access book Fashion Fictions: Imagining Sustainable Worlds (Bloomsbury, 2025).
