The Castle Pub in central Nottingham, one of the city’s most characterful independent pubs, has reopened its newly refurbished first floor function room, Archer’s Attic, in time for the Christmas season.
The pub marked the relaunch on 29 November with a festive celebration featuring seasonal food, Christmas drinks and complimentary mulled wine for visitors enjoying the nearby It’s in Nottingham Christmas Market at Nottingham Castle.
Housed in an 1883 building designed by the celebrated Victorian architect Watson Fothergill, The Castle Pub is known for its heritage features, cosy atmosphere and warm hospitality. The newly refreshed Archer’s Attic brings added flexibility for festive gatherings, private dining, corporate functions and community events. With views across the walls and skyline of Nottingham Castle, the space offers one of the city’s most distinctive backdrops for memorable occasions.
The pub is operated by the Ever So Sensible group, which continues to champion high-quality service, great food and a broad drinks selection. Visitors can enjoy eight rotating craft beer lines sourced from local, national and international brewers, along with a menu featuring pub classics, pizzas, burgers and Sunday roasts. The Castle has a strong reputation for relaxed, welcoming hospitality, making it a favourite for real ale fans, families and visitors seeking a characterful pub experience.
Heather, General Manager at The Castle, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome guests back to our upgraded function room. It keeps all the things people love, the building’s history, the views across the Castle, the warm, friendly vibe, while giving us the flexibility and atmosphere needed for memorable events and celebrations. With our craft beer selection, great food and personal touch, it’s the perfect place for festive parties, family get-togethers or business dinners.”
In addition to its refreshed interiors, The Castle maintains strong credentials as an independent venue with a focus on quality, sustainability and responsible hospitality. The Ever So Sensible group invests in renewable energy, reduced food waste initiatives and eco-conscious packaging, ensuring the pub aligns with modern expectations of sustainable practice.
With its combination of period architecture, modern comfort and a prime position opposite Nottingham Castle’s historic gatehouse, The Castle’s newly reopened function room provides an attractive option for Christmas parties, seasonal celebrations and special bookings throughout the winter and beyond.
