From Community Commitment to Award-Winning Impact: Nottingham Agency takes CSR Honour

NOTTINGHAM-based marketing, PR and digital agency Cartwright has been recognised for its commitment to responsible business after winning the CSR Leadership Award at the inaugural East Midlands Chamber’s Nottinghamshire Business Awards.

Held at Renaissance Hall in Newark, the strategic marketing agency secured the accolade for its structured, long-term approach to corporate social responsibility.

Over the past year, the agency has delivered more than 600 hours of volunteering, mentoring, internships and pro bono support for charities and educational partners across Nottinghamshire. Initiatives include Switch Up, Juno Women’s Aid and The TV Workshop, alongside collaborations with Nottingham College, Nottingham Trent University and local schools to create real-world opportunities for students and young professionals.

Huma Mian of Cartwright’s ESG committee said:

“Social responsibility is hard-wired into the agency’s overall culture. Our mission is to act as an intelligent ally to our local community and clients – helping people achieve what they cannot do alone.

“We took the time to research the real challenges impacting Nottingham’s communities, from homelessness and underserved groups to the need for skills development that supports future employment for younger individuals.

“We then committed ourselves to causes that drive meaningful, lasting change in the region we’ve proudly been part of for over twenty years. As such, we are really pleased to have been recognised for this achievement and the positive impact we’ve already made within the region.”

Judges praised Cartwright’s clear strategy and measurable impact, recognising the agency’s commitment to delivering meaningful change across Nottinghamshire through long-term partnerships with charities, educational institutions and community organisations.

Dr Cham Kang, president of the East Midlands Chamber said:

“I would like to offer our congratulations to Cartwright on winning the CSR Leadership Award at the Nottinghamshire Business Awards.

“This year’s finalists were all of an exceptionally high calibre and to win the award is a real accolade.”

Through its partnership with Switch Up, the agency has helped raise more than £100,000 through fundraising events and pro bono communications support, helping the organisation reach and support more young people across the region.

Internally, the programme is led by an eight-person cross-agency CSR and ESG committee, which brings together colleagues from across the business to identify causes, coordinate initiatives and ensure the entire team plays a role in delivering positive impact.

Alongside its community work, Cartwright continues to strengthen its environmental commitments. The agency has taken steps to reduce operational emissions, encourage sustainable travel and prioritise responsible procurement by working with local suppliers wherever possible.

The agency has also undertaken a full Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions review and is working towards a 20% reduction in operational carbon emissions as part of its commitment to supporting Nottingham’s ambition to become carbon neutral by 2028. As such, it has recently installed solar panels onto the roof of its offices in Lace Market.

These initiatives form part of the agency’s wider ESG strategy and its ambition to become a B Corp certified business by 2026, further reinforcing its commitment to responsible growth.

The recognition comes as Cartwright continues to expand its national client base across construction and property, food and drink, retail, professional services and health and wellbeing.

With offices in Nottingham, Birmingham and London, the agency combines strategic PR, digital marketing and creative storytelling to help organisations build stronger brands and deliver measurable commercial and social impact.

Cartwright now boasts a 40-strong team of PR, digital, social media, brand and marketing experts. The agency works with prominent businesses such as global vision brand ZEISS, leading procurement framework managing agent Pagabo, wool bedding specialist Woolroom and workforce management solution provider MSite.
