Historic Counties Team up in Huge Boost to Regional Conferencing Offer

Two historic counties, known for their longstanding cultural and regional ties, have announced that they’ll be teaming up ahead of this year’s 2022 Meetings Show at ExCel London on the 29th and 30th of June 2022.

The official convention bureaus for both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, Meet in Nottingham and Meet in the Peak District & Derbyshire, have announced they will collaborate and run a joint stand at this year’s Meetings Show. The bureaus are tasked with helping companies, association and event organisers find and book world-class venues throughout their respective regions.

The partnership is the first time the two historic counties will have worked together to promote the region’s conferencing and events capability. By working together on a joint stand at the Meetings Show in London, it allows the two counties to better showcase and emphasise the conference offering here in the East Midlands to both domestic and international event planners and organisers.

Meet in the Peak District & Derbyshire and Meet in Nottingham won’t be alone on their stand either, with a handful of important and iconic conferencing venues from across both counties in attendance too. From Derbyshire, the inspiring conferencing facilities offered at Chatsworth will be showcased together with the large, exclusive-use properties offered by Peak Venues. From Nottinghamshire, the state of the art Nottingham Venues will be there along with the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham. Both bureaus are hoping to add more venues to the stand before the show.

Meet in the Peak District & Derbyshire’s attendance at the 2022 Meetings Show is supported by the East Midlands Accelerator project, which is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Community Renewal Fund.

Rachel Stewart, Events Manager of Meet in Nottingham, said:

“With overnight stays by business travellers bringing an estimated £471m to the local Nottinghamshire economy each year, this is an invaluable opportunity to showcase the best of our region to the world and position both Nottingham and Derbyshire as a key destination for conferences and venues.

“We’re really proud to be announcing our collaboration with our neighbours Meet in the Peak District and Derbyshire. This is a unique opportunity to work together and help enhance our messaging and show how well placed our region is for conferences and events to a larger domestic and international market!”

Jo Dilley, Managing Director of Marketing Peak District and Derbyshire, commented:

“We’re excited to be working with our partners at Marketing Nottingham to promote our brand new Meet in the Peak District & Derbyshire product to both domestic and international event organisers.

“As the industry recovers, there’s never been a better time to showcase our truly unique offer with a focus on bespoke events, wellness and the great outdoors.

“From state-of-the-art city centre facilities to bespoke team building experiences in Britain’s original National Park, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire truly have the best of both worlds. Add to that our hands-on activities such as guided walks and whisky tasting, and our distinctive venues that showcase the area’s rich cultural heritage, and we truly have something to suit every kind of request.”
