Mansfield Now: The Biggest Regeneration in a Generation

A bold, coordinated programme bringing together 18 major regeneration projects to reshape Mansfield town centre — now and for the next generation.

Mansfield NOW is a landmark regeneration initiative that for the first time brings together the full scale, ambition and intent of town-centre transformation underway across Mansfield. Rather than presenting regeneration as a series of disconnected announcements, Mansfield NOW provides a clear, joined-up overview of how multiple major investments are collectively reshaping the town centre into a place to live, work, learn, invest and spend time.

Launched at the Old Town Hall, the initiative captures a pivotal moment for Mansfield. Across the town centre, long-vacant buildings are being brought back into use, landmark sites are being redeveloped, heritage assets are being restored and new civic, educational and commercial spaces are emerging. Mansfield NOW demonstrates that this is not about future aspiration alone — it is about visible delivery, active construction and committed long-term change.

Led by Mansfield Forward BID in partnership with Mansfield District Council, the initiative reflects years of planning, collaboration and investment across the public and private sectors. Together, the 18 projects featured represent one of the most significant periods of regeneration Mansfield has experienced in decades.

A town centre moving forward

Mansfield NOW sets out a confident vision for a town centre that is no longer defined by decline or vacancy, but by activity, opportunity and purpose. Education and skills investment is anchoring daily footfall, major civic infrastructure is returning services and employment to the heart of the town, and private-sector development is converting redundant buildings into productive assets once again.

Crucially, the initiative recognises that successful regeneration is not achieved through a single project. It is the cumulative impact of multiple, well-aligned schemes — each supporting the next — that creates lasting change.

Projects featured in the campaign include:

  • The £30 million Mansfield Connect civic and community hub at Stockwell Gate
  • Major education and skills investment at West Nottinghamshire College, including multiple town-centre campuses supporting thousands of students
  • The regeneration of White Hart Street and Dame Flogan
  • The redevelopment of the Market Place as a high-quality public space and events destination
  • Heritage-led restoration of landmark buildings across Leeming Street and conservation areas
  • The transformation of former banks, department stores and night-time economy sites into modern, mixed-use assets
  • New town-centre housing, workspace and independent business hubs

Telling the story of regeneration

At the heart of Mansfield NOW is a cinematic campaign film created in collaboration with West Nottinghamshire College students Arran Powell and Charlie McKeon. The film captures both the physical transformation of the town centre and the confidence driving it forward and can be viewed via Mansfield Forward BID’s Facebook page, the It’s in Mansfield Facebook Group, and across Instagram and TikTok via @mansfieldforward.bid. At the time of writing, the Mansfield NOW campaign film has amassed over 93,000 views across social media platforms, demonstrating significant public engagement with the regeneration programme.

Supporting the film is a 28-page illustrated booklet mapping all 18 projects across the town centre. The booklet can be downloaded from www.mansfieldforward.bid/mansfield-now or collected as a free physical copy from the Mansfield Forward BID office at Old Town Hall, Market Place, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG18 1HX.

A long-term commitment

Mansfield NOW has been designed as an annual initiative that will track progress, delivery and completion year-on-year. Future editions will show how projects move from plans to construction and from construction to completed places, ensuring transparency and confidence throughout the regeneration journey.
