Nottingham College are sponsoring FUTUREPROOF Nottingham 2026 to champion sustainability

Nottingham College are once again championing sustainability, this time as proud sponsors of FUTUREPROOF Nottingham 2026, a major national sustainability forum taking place on 25th February 2026 at Nottingham’s Broadway Cinema.

The event will bring together more than 400 business leaders, academics, policymakers, and innovators to explore practical solutions for shaping a greener, smarter, and more sustainable future. We will be playing a key role in the day’s activities, with Sustainability Lead, Matt Bunn, joining the speaker line-up as well as hosting a thought-provoking panel discussion. Nottingham college will also have a dedicated exhibition space highlighting the innovative work being done to achieve the college’s ambitious goal of carbon net zero by 2030.

Staff and students will showcase projects that are driving meaningful change, including our Sustainable Futures initiative, which empowers students to transform bold ideas into real-world solutions, with the chance to win up to £4,000 in funding to make it happen. Alongside this, we are advancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainable travel, and embedding green thinking throughout the curriculum. These efforts reflect our strong belief that education is key to tackling climate challenges and equipping young people with the skills needed for a sustainable, green future.

Matt Bunn, Sustainability Lead at Nottingham College, said:

“We’re delighted to be part of FUTUREPROOF Nottingham 2026. At Nottingham College, we take our sustainability responsibilities seriously, and our recent Green Gown Award win is a testament to that. Our commitment to achieving carbon net zero by 2030 is embedded in everything we do, from transforming our campuses to inspiring our students to become champions of change. This event is a fantastic opportunity to share our progress, learn from others, and collaborate on solutions that will make a real difference for Nottingham and beyond.”

FUTUREPROOF 2026 will explore seven core sustainability themes that are central to the UK’s long-term climate and green growth ambitions and aligned with the UN Global Sustainable Development Goals. These include shaping low-carbon mobility for communities and businesses, accelerating clean and affordable energy solutions, supporting organisations on their journey to net zero, creating resilient and healthy cities, driving innovation in retrofit and construction, shifting behaviours to empower climate-positive choices, and unlocking investment for sustainable growth.

The event will include nationally recognised keynote speakers, in-depth panel discussions, case studies from leading research teams, and insights from mission-driven businesses pioneering sustainable technologies and practices.

Megan Powell Vreeswijk, CEO of Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Nottingham College as a sponsor of FUTUREPROOF 2026. Their commitment to sustainability, empowering students to take practical action, skills development and achieving carbon net zero by 2030 perfectly reflects the ambition of this forum. Nottingham College is playing a vital role in shaping the future workforce and supporting green growth across our city and county. Their involvement strengthens FUTUREPROOF’s focus and gives businesses and organisations attending the event insight into how students are being prepared to start their work life.”
