Nottingham’s Events Venues to Feature On the International Stage at MeetGB Tradeshow

Nottingham’s official convention bureau, Meet in Nottingham, will be flying the flag and showcasing our green destination, home to legends and pioneers, to event professionals at MeetGB Virtual from the 15th through to the 17th of February 2022. This virtual tradeshow made its debut in 2021 and following its initial success has returned for the second year. The exhibition for the business events sector will focus on bringing back events from Europe and the US which were particularly affected by COVID-19.

Team Nottingham will have a virtual stand at the event that will capture the imagination of event professionals, helping to bring big events to the city and county. Nottingham is the UK’s largest small city, with a legendary past, vibrant culture and a bright future. The historic home of Robin Hood, Nottingham boasts a range of diverse and well-equipped conference venues. From the 10,000 capacity Motorpoint Arena and the modern state-of-the-art De Vere East Midlands Conference Centre to the historic Nottingham Castle fresh off the back of a major £30m transformation. Team Nottingham will showcase Nottingham and Nottinghamshire’s different venues and explain how they can host a range of different events and conferences.

As part of Nottingham’s wider tourism board Visit Nottinghamshire and place marketing organisation Marketing Nottingham, Meet in Nottingham’s role as the official convention bureau is to help companies, event organisers and associations from across the globe to find and book world-class venues from across the city and county. The tradeshow allows the team to have one-to-one meetings and gives the opportunity to forge longstanding business partnerships, which give Nottingham the chance to host events with partners for years to come.

Large events such as these have the potential to generate thousands of pounds for the local economy through venue bookings, hotel reservations and visits to other businesses in the hospitality and tourism sector. Overnight visitors are some of the most active spenders and consumers visiting the city and represent huge value to Nottingham’s visitor economy. This year as restrictions on international travel look to loosen going into 2022, conferences and large scale events will supercharge growth in Nottingham and the wider region.

Interim Chief Executive of Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, Robert Dixon, said:

“You simply can’t underestimate the hugely beneficial impact of large-scale commercial events and conferences for Nottingham and the wider Nottinghamshire area, being worth an estimated £470m to the local economy – our events and hospitality sector had been hit particularly hard over the course of the last couple of years since COVID, so it’s fantastic to see things starting to get back to normal.”

“We want to take every opportunity we can to show off the brilliant venues and facilities that Nottingham has to the world. We want companies and event organisers to see how fantastic the city and county are for hosting events. We’re the UK’s largest small city, packed with wonderful facilities that we want the world to know about. The format of the event last year was really helpful and allowed us to forge good connections and explore new opportunities with new partners. I look forward to this year’s event and building on last year’s success!”

Paul Black, Head of Business Events at VisitBritain quote:
