Monday 14 April 2025: Tickets are launched today for the world’s largest festival of public science talks, which will see 27 scientists take to the stage in venues across Nottingham.

On 19–21 May, the Pint of Science festival will simultaneously bring thousands of scientists and their research out of the lab and into pubs, cafes and community halls near you. The three-day festival has grown astronomically since its inception, and 2025 will see events in over 25 countries and hundreds of cities around the world. Each night will provide a unique line up of talks, demonstrations and live experiments held in a relaxed and informal environment.

University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University researchers will be speaking at venues across the city, including Canalhouse, The Blind Rabbit, Bunker’s Hill and Beeston Social. Tickets are available from the Pint of Science website (pintofscience.co.uk), costing just £5 each. Attendees in Nottingham will enjoy a variety of exciting talks including: mythbusting around ultra-processed foods, 3D printing organs, the interest in cannabidiol (CBD) as medicine and the many uses of AI.

Alongside the main talks, audience members will be able to take part in the largest ever multi-city pub quiz – in association with interactive quiz company, KwizzBit. Teams will tackle science-themed trivia and go head-to-head with other cities interactively, in the hope of claiming the top spot in their city and across the UK.

Pint of Science founders Dr Praveen Paul and Dr Michael Motskin aimed to reconnect people with the human side of science. What started in three cities in 2013 has now grown to hundreds, highlighting the incredible scientific work happening right around us. These events not only allow researchers to share their stories but also give audiences a chance to engage directly with the minds behind groundbreaking discoveries.

“It’s amazing to see how a simple idea among friends has ignited curiosity and brought scientific research into the limelight,” says Co-Founder Dr Praveen Paul. “Everyone should have the chance to explore and question the diverse research happening across the UK. This wouldn’t be possible without our passionate volunteers who create an inspiring lineup of events, sparking curiosity and engagement. The hardest part is deciding which fantastic event to attend!”

Creative Reactions:

Following a resounding success at last year’s festival, this year the Nottingham festival also includes Creative Reactions, a programme where artists and scientists partner to inspire each other and produce incredible artworks inspired by scientists’ research. These works break down barriers and encourage creativity for both parties – with breath-taking results.

Join us at the Carousel for the Opening Night Performance marking the launch of the exhibition on the 15 May, followed by the Art Exhibition from 16-18 May.
