Wayne Bexton is the Director of Economy, Environment and Assets at Nottinghamshire County Council, with responsibility for all property, planning and economic regeneration activity. Wayne has been in local government leadership roles for over 20 years, with a track record of implementing corporate landlord structures in unitary and upper tier settings, as well as delivering on some of the largest mix use regeneration projects in the UK, aligning housing, employment land and large-scale transportation projects. Wayne has also previously delivered sustainability advice in the private sector.
Wayne has been recognised as one of the top 500 global influencers on environment and sustainability, and is a Board Director of Arc Partnership and the SCAPE Group Ltd, having formerly established the Midlands Net Zero Hub alongside the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Wayne has received industry recognition along the way including the National Lottery Awards Environment Category Winner, National Green Recovery 2021 and Local Authority of the Year 2020/2021.
Currently leading on Nottinghamshire’s ambitious Place agenda, with an array of significant opportunities ahead of the County including Local Government Reorganisation, STEP Fusion, Freeport and Investment Zone.
