Renowned artist Wolfgang Buttress, whose career spans more than 40 years, is celebrated for creating immersive, multi-sensory artworks inspired by humanity’s evolving relationship with the natural world. Working at the intersection of art, science and technology, Buttress explores themes of the natural and the sublime through sculptural form, sound and light.
Increasingly informed by vibrational ecology and the ever-changing astronomical activity of space, Buttress collaborates with scientists, musicians, architects and landscape architects to translate scientific discovery into powerful, site-specific installations. These works invite audiences to experience the unseen rhythms shaping the world around them.
Buttress will be speaking about his practice, with a particular focus on his latest project, TO BE — a bold new series of live performances taking place at Broadway on June 6 and 7. The performances will feature live music by Karman Line Collective in Screen 1, accompanied by a live stream of 50,000 bees, alongside specially curated film projections and immersive scents.
TO BE promises a unique and transformative sensory experience, pushing the boundaries of contemporary performance while deepening our connection to the natural world.
