What’s This About Batman?
Wollaton Park boasts 500 acres of parkland with diverse habitats including grassland, wetland and woodland; it’s also home to Wollaton Hall – a stunning Elizabethan manor famed as being Batman’s house in the ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ film!. The beautiful scenery of the park provides the perfect backdrop for Splendour Festival.
How Do I Get There?
Getting to Splendour by public transport is a breeze, thanks to the enhanced NET tram and Nottingham City Centre bus services, which will run frequently all weekend right to the festival doorstep. Use Pink 30 from the City Centre, with buses picking up at Milton Street alongside the Victoria Centre. Trentbarton’s i4 and Red Arrow services are a great option if you’re travelling from Derby or surrounding areas. For anyone arriving by train, try taking The Tram from the train station to the University of Nottingham stop, a 15 min walk away from Wollaton Park.
Allow Extra Time to Get to Splendour
Don’t forget the ongoing road improvements on the A52 Derby Road between Priory and QMC roundabouts. Plan your journey and allow plenty of time to get here.
The westbound carriageway remains closed with traffic diverting along University Boulevard and Woodside Road. Eastbound remains open but two bus stops have been suspended. The closest stop for eastbound travel will be at the QMC.
Where Can I Park?
Parking is available at £15 per day or £25 for two days for general and accessible festival-goers. New for this year, pre-book online for a smooth start to the festival day.
Getting In
Use either entrance (Wollaton Road or Derby Road) with the ticket downloaded to your phone, or printed out at home. The Main pedestrian entry gate is the Wollaton Road entrance.
The vehicle entrance is via Lime Tree Avenue (Off Middleton Boulevard A514). If you need to collect your ticket from the box office, enter the festival via the Main gate of the grounds via the Wollaton Road entrance (you do not need to visit the box office if you already have a ticket). Security checks and bag searches will be in place at entry, so please allow plenty of time.
What Should I Bring?
You’ll need your ticket (on your phone or printed), a refillable water bottle to keep hydrated. Free tap water points are located throughout the site and at all bars. Sun cream, weather-appropriate clothing and a portable charger are all great to pack too.
If you’re bringing your own picnic, just remember to bring sealed non-alcoholic drinks in plastic bottles or cans under one litre. Small foldable chairs, blankets, and sun shades for young children are welcome within designated areas, with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their festival.
What Should I Leave at Home?
Alcohol, glass, BBQs, pop-up tents, gazebos, tables, and anything else that might block walkways or cause an obstruction. And one pro tip is: Leave all your worries and stress behind the main gate, because the weekend is sure to deliver three main things: unforgettable memories, great music and happiness.
What’s The Food & Drink Line Up?
There’s loads of delicious food options from traditional fish & chips, woodfired pizzas and burgers through to the flavours from around the world, all found in the food court area between the Main and Confetti Stages.
The Main Arena will pour pints of Brooklyn Pilsner, Stonewall IPA, and Thatchers Juicy Apple, with an Ale Tent serving local legends like Black Iris, Castle Rock, Lenton Lane, Blue Monkey, Shipstones, and Hollow Stone. The Bodega Stage serves up its own canned Bodega Lager. There will be canned cocktails, wines, sparkling drinks, and a dedicated Guinness bar (including zero cans).
What’s Good For the Kids?
Splendour is a festival for all ages, with free entry for under-11s, a dedicated Little Splendours kids’ area, fairground rides, hands-on workshops and Trent Rockets popping up across the weekend. Check out the market area for face painting, glitter stalls and fun gifts and treats. When it comes to food, many of the traders offer special kids’ meals.
Looking After Little Ones
All children aged 0-10 will be issued with a wristband, where a parent or guardian at the festival can write their mobile number so everyone can be easily reunited. On the day, the Splendour Squad, Welfare Officer and Security staff will be on hand to help anyone who needs assistance.
Where Can I Find Toilets?
There are multiple toilet stations spread throughout the festival, all clearly marked on the official map, so don’t join the first queue you see as there will be plenty located throughout the festival site.
How Do I Pay?
All of Splendour is cash and card friendly, though prioritising card or contactless payments is recommended to keep things speedy and safe.
