Nottingham to Host Major National Sustainability Forum: FUTUREPROOF 2026

Nottingham is set to take the centre stage in the UK’s sustainability landscape next year as it hosts FUTUREPROOF 2026 – a major new national forum designed to bring together the brightest minds and most ambitious organisations committed to building a greener future.

Taking place on Wednesday 25 February 2026 at the environmentally focused Broadway Cinema, the forum will gather over 400 business leaders, academics, policymakers, innovators, and sustainability specialists for a full day of insight, collaboration, and practical action.

FUTUREPROOF 2026 will explore seven core sustainability themes central to the UK’s long-term climate and green growth ambitions and aligned with the UN Global Sustainable Development Goals:

– Greener Travel – shaping low-carbon mobility for communities and business

– Greener Energy – accelerating clean, secure and affordable energy solutions

– Becoming Greener – supporting organisations on the journey to net zero

– Greener City – creating resilient, healthy and future-ready places

– Greener Buildings – driving innovation in retrofit, construction and design

– Greener Mindset – shifting behaviours and empowering climate-positive choices

– Greener Finance – unlocking investment for sustainable growth

Delegates can expect a dynamic programme featuring nationally recognised keynote speakers, in-depth panel discussions, case studies from leading research teams, and insights from mission-driven businesses pioneering sustainable technologies and practices.

CEO of Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, Megan Powell Vreeswijk said:
“I am delighted to launch the brand-new FUTUREPROOF 2026. A national forum that reflects our region’s ambition to lead the way in sustainability. Nottingham is home to world-class researchers, two major universities and pioneering businesses embracing innovation and climate-positive thinking. This conference is an opportunity to bring those strengths together, share knowledge, and inspire the next generation of sustainable solutions – locally, nationally, and globally.”

Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward said:

“Sustainability is about protecting what we love for future generations, and making smart, decisive actions about how we work and invest to put that into practice. By working together, we can make choices today that create a cleaner, healthier tomorrow. I’m proud to support the National Sustainability Forum and encourage everyone to join in building a greener future.”
