Professor Meryem Duygun – Co-Director, Global Centre for Banking and Financial Innovation at University of Nottingham

Professor Meryem Duygun holds the Aviva Chair in Risk and Insurance at the Nottingham University Business School, University of Nottingham (UoN), and is a Fellow of the UK Academy of Social Sciences. In 2024, Meryem was awarded the UoN Vice-Chancellor’s Medal in recognition of her leadership and contributions to academia and industry collaborations. Her research interests encompass risk management, financial technologies (FinTech), financial inclusion, and sustainable finance.

Currently, her research focuses on climate change mitigation, digitalization, and improving access to finance for sustainable growth among SMEs. As the founder and co-director of the Research England-funded Inclusive Financial Technology Hub (INFINITY) and Co-Director of the Global Centre for Banking and Financial Innovation, she drives impactful collaborations that bridge academia, industry, and policy.

A multi-year honouree on the UK Innovate Finance Women in FinTech Powerlist, Meryem serves as President of the International Finance and Banking Society (IFABS) and is a regular speaker at national and international events.
