Footprints opens New Coffee Bar to the public and starts taking bookings for New Community Hall

Following a year of fundraising and support from local businesses and volunteers, Nottingham charity Footprints Conductive Education Centre, has opened the doors of its new coffee bar ‘Pulp & Prints’ to the public, and has completed works to refurbish the community hall within its Clifton centre, providing a new space for the community.

At the end of last year, the coffee bar, which is run by the charity Pulp Friction, opened solely to families using the services of Footprints and its team. Now the members have settled into their roles, the time has come to welcome the local Clifton community and beyond.

Pulp & Prints, located within Footprints Centre on Farnborough Road in Clifton, serves hot and cold drinks, lunch and cakes and is open during the week and soon Saturdays too.

Footprints moved to its new site in June last year and for the last 12 months has been transforming the building into the now fit-for-purpose centre which supports over 100 families a month, transforming the lives of children living with mobility and communication difficulties.

Part of the transformation works was to refurbish and redecorate a community hall-style room within the centre that the charity could rent out. This is now complete and bookings have already started coming as demand for affordable and accessible community space in and around Clifton is high.

One of the key aims of creating the onsite coffee bar and leasable community hall was to provide an ongoing income for the charities – as Footprints works to bring in its own funds alongside its ongoing fundraising efforts.

Local businesses FHP and Blueprint Interiors donated generously to enable the fit out and opening of the coffee bar.

Gemma Ryder, Head of Furniture/ Client Relationship Manager at Blueprint Interiors, said:

“From the start of the refurbishment, our goal was to create spaces that genuinely support Footprints work and the people who attend the centre. The coffee bar is the next step in the journey — a place that encourages connection, conversation, and a sense of belonging. It’s fantastic to see the vision now becoming part of everyday life at the centre and also providing much needed funds along the way.

“We’ve already had lots of amazing support from our contractors and suppliers along with local businesses – but there’s still plenty of opportunities to get involved as we help the Footprints centre reach its full potential.”

Josie Park, Head of Fundraising and Income at Footprints, said:

“For years the families we work with have told us how there is such a need for spaces where they can have an informal coffee and a chat, and where all the family can feel included. We are beyond grateful to the incredible support that has helped to make this become a reality, to see this come to life and the impact it is already having is amazing and we’re so excited for the opportunities it brings for the children and families we work with and the community around us.’’

There is still much work to be done to fulfil Footprints’ needs and ambitions of providing its life changing services to as many families as possible. Internally the charity needs new windows, blinds and computer equipment. Outdoors, Footprints hopes to create sensory zones for use during sessions and this needs landscaping, outdoor storage, and donations to buy the equipment to bring it to life.
