NORTH NOTTS BID has joined forces with East Midlands Chamber to host an event for local businesses spotlighting clean energy investment and opportunities associated with the major energy infrastructure set to be delivered in North Nottinghamshire.
Held at The Bridge Skills Hub in Worksop, the Clean Energy Event brought together BID members from across the Bassetlaw district and chamber members to strengthen connections, promote local procurement, job creation and discuss collaboration on one of the region’s fastest-growing sectors, driven by the transformation of the three former coal-fired power station sites that will form the Trent Supercluster.
Speakers at the event explored hydrogen’s role in the future of clean energy led by HyMarnham Power, how EDF is powering data centres with nuclear energy at Megawatt Valley, as well as sharing the latest updates on the STEP Fusion project in West Burton – a long-term catalyst for the wider supercluster and advancing the UK’s nuclear fusion capabilities.
Sally Gillborn MBE, chief executive of North Notts BID, said:
“North Nottinghamshire is at the centre of the UK’s most significant energy transformation for a generation. Events like this help our members understand how they can be part of that story, whether through new partnerships, procurement opportunities and hearing firsthand from those who are responsible for driving these projects forward over the coming decades.”
Further presentations came from North Notts BID, Invest in Bassetlaw as well as to share more about opportunities at the East Midlands Investment Zone at Explore Park, Europe’s largest and most advanced pre-assembly manufacturing facility and innovation hub.
A fireside discussion hosted by Cartwright and networking lunch rounded off the morning, giving attendees direct access to the decision-makers and investors shaping the region’s energy future.
Sally added:
“As the Trent Supercluster takes shape at the forefront of the UK’s energy transition, it is vital that our local businesses understand the local supply chain opportunities and have a voice at the table.
“The scale of what is happening on our doorstep represents multigenerational opportunities for our local businesses, so we are committed to facilitating connections and continuing engagement between those leading delivery and our community.”
