An Audience with…
Think of those celebrities on stage who answer planted questions posed by an invited audience. Beeston Civic’s ‘Audience’ is a bit more spontaneous – informal, informative, and interactive – at times even provocative.
Focused on subjects that are interesting and informative – along with items reflecting community concern – our Events team have curated an eclectic programme of winters talks.
Main presentations are complemented by ‘Spotlight’ talks from local groups and societies, aimed to expand appreciation of the rich range of local interests her in Beeston.
What’s in store, where and when
Beeston Civic Events Team have lined-up speakers who are leaders in their field of expertise – highly regarded, renown and reputed specialists.
- October 14th – Heritage Fact & Fiction – Qualified Architect and Landscape Architecture specialist Chryse Tinley takes a look at the reality of Listed Building Protection and the Local Heritage List
- November 11th – Are We There Yet? – East Midlands Mayor, Claire Ward examines the vision for Integrated Transport, broadening Beeston’s links across the region, UK and the rest of the world
- December 9th – Climate Crisis? – Regional Director of Climate Resilience and Green Growth, Michael Gallagher asks if we are ready for the challenges of climate change – can we prepare for it and mitigate it effects
- January20th – Floods of Tears – Nottingham University Geographer and Environment expert, Emily O’Donnell Explores critical approaches and examines our options – historical images of flooding from the Rylands to High Road may not be a thing of the past.
- February 17th – Helping Ourselves – Local Groups and Local Charities representing a wide range of local organisations illustrate what can result from initiative, inspiration, and shared visions, along with application and hard graft,
- March 17th – We ❤️Beeston Station – Voluntary organisation Friends of Beeston Station demonstrate what can be achieved – proving what results from local effort – how tenacious endeavour and collaboration is having positive outcomes.
All talks are held at Beeston’s Royal British Legion on Hall Croft on Wednesday evenings. Boasting comfortable surroundings and a licenced bar, along with on-site carparking – RBL is easily accessed by bus and tram, alighting on Chilwell Road – and it’s just a short walk from Beeston centre.
Doors open at 18.45 – for a convivial gathering and refreshments – with talks beginning at 17.15 aiming to complete around 21.30
Everyone is welcome – it’s FREE to members, who are encouraged to bring along a friend, a donation from non-members is appreciated.
