Sundown Adventureland’s popular Spooky Sundown event returns from 17 October to 1 November, bringing two weeks of playful Halloween fun, monster hunts and family-friendly thrills to the award-winning theme park for under 10s – with a brand-new Creepy Carnival adding even more fun this year.
This October half term, families are invited to join the Scream Team and discover Sundown Adventureland transformed into a playful spooky world, complete with giant spiders, hundreds of pumpkins, colourful bunting and hay bales, as well as picture-perfect photo opportunities featuring a spectacular 10-foot-tall pumpkin and a creepy 12-foot-long spider.
Included with standard park admission, the Scream Team Monster Hunt invites families to follow a trail of clues around Sundown Adventureland as they search for five members of the Scream Team: Spike, Gretchen, Boltz, UGO and the Unknown Pharaoh, complete with chunky gold chains and a gigantic gleaming amethyst.
Everyone who takes part can head to the Pumpkin Café to claim a tasty Halloween treat, whether or not they complete the full trail.
Budding young artists can also get creative by drawing their own monster and entering it online for the chance to win a spooky Sundown t-shirt.
This year, the Four Seasons Area is hosting face painting throughout the day, alongside dancing and games at selected times with bears Honey and Sunny, who will be joined by some fun-loving monsters at selected times throughout the day.
There will also be a new Creepy Carnival this year, featuring free traditional fairground-style games for the whole family, including Pumpkin Bowling and Boltz Buzzer.
The Halloween family fun continues at Sundown with more than 30 rides, attractions and play areas to explore.
Little adventurers can be transported to the heart of the African bush on the WILD Ostrich Safari Ride, sing along with the animals in the Singing Pet Shop, climb aboard the Galleon at Smuggler’s Cove or let off steam in Crash Landings, Sundown’s biggest indoor play area, with four storeys of jungle-themed fun.
Designed especially for younger children, Spooky Sundown is all about fun rather than frights, making it the perfect Halloween adventure for families looking for something a little different this October half term.
Shaun Malvern, director at Sundown Adventureland and the creative inspiration behind Spooky Sundown, said:
“Spooky Sundown is a fun and playful Halloween event with no scary tricks, and the trail is perfect for families to complete together. This year we’ve added a new Creepy Carnival, with free fairground-style games that the whole family will love playing together and lots of decorations throughout the park to get everyone in the spooky spirit.
“The trail gives our regular visitors something different to discover, while offering new families a wonderful way to explore Sundown and find favourite experiences they’ll want to come back and enjoy next time.”
After a busy morning of Halloween fun, families can refuel at the Pumpkin Patch Café, Rodeo Corral and Crash Landing, which offer pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, side dishes, hot drinks and cold refreshments. Families are also welcome to bring their own picnics to enjoy in the Four Seasons Arena.
For those wanting to turn their Halloween adventure into a longer family break, Wild Acre Village, Sundown Adventureland’s award-winning on-site accommodation, offers lodges sleeping up to 10 people. Selected lodges include self-catering facilities and hot tubs, and park entry is included throughout the stay at no extra cost.
Spooky Sundown runs from 17 October to 1 November 2026. Discounted online tickets booked in advance are £20.95 for adults and children over 90cm. Tickets purchased at the gate are £25.95. Children under 90cm enter free, with discounts available for disabled guests, seniors and carers.
The annual Sundown Fun Pass also includes access to the Halloween event and offers unlimited return visits for 12 months.
