Nottingham Castle blanketed by snow in the winter

DISCOVER UNIQUE FESTIVE GIFTS THROUGH THE CASTLE GATES THIS YEAR

GET ready to step into Christmas at Nottingham Castle, as plans have been revealed for a free-to-enter winter craft market and late-night shopping opportunities.

This year, for the first time, Nottingham Castle’s stunning grounds will play host to a three-day Christmas craft market from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 November. Visitors can enter the market free of charge to shop for unique gifts and decorations from small businesses, or simply soak up the festive atmosphere with a glass of mulled wine. Stalls include a variety of food, drink, home and art independents – Nottingham favourites include the quirky gifts of DUKKI, delicious Doughnotts and bright artwork of Ellastrated.

As well as the craft market, the Castle’s visitor centre gift shop will be extending its opening hours in the run up to Christmas. Every Wednesday from 9 November until – and including – Wednesday 14 December, the shop will open until 8pm offering more trinkets and treasures from local suppliers, perfect for those extra stocking fillers.

The festive fun will run alongside the regular Nottingham Castle offering with tickets now providing entry for up to one year. Enjoy a winter walk around the grounds followed by a warming drink in one the two cafés, bring friends and family to explore Nottingham’s fascinating history and caves, and capture magical moments against the backdrop of the Castle.

Heather Mayfield, chief executive said:

“Christmas at the Castle is a magical time of year, and we are pleased to be able to open our gates for free entry to a wonderfully festive fair

“The galleries and grounds are a lovely way to spend a winter afternoon and there are plenty of places to keep cosy too. We hope the craft market and extended Christmas shopping hours will also be popular with everyone looking for special and locally sourced gifts.

“As always, the Castle is a great place to visit with friends and family – especially if you have guests or relatives visiting for the holidays – and now with our Rebel Pass, you can visit as many times as you like for the next 12 months.”

The Christmas craft market will be open:

4pm to 8pm on Friday 25 November

10am to 8pm on Saturday 26 November

10am to 4pm on Sunday 27 November
