Nottinghamshire Mind is calling on people to lace up their trainers, don their elf hats and join in the festive fun as its much-loved Mental Elf Festive Fun Run returns this December.
Taking place on Sunday 6th December 2026 at Sherwood Pines Forest Park, Edwinstowe, the 5km event is back for its fifth year.
The Mental Elf Festive Fun Run is a relaxed, inclusive event open to people of all ages and abilities. Participants are encouraged to walk, run, roll, skip or dance their way around the scenic forest route, all while embracing the festive spirit, fancy dress is optional but warmly encouraged.
The event will begin at 11am, with registration opening from 10am, and welcomes individuals, families, friends, community groups and workplace teams. Children under five can take part for free, and well-behaved dogs on short leads are also welcome.
As well as providing a fun and uplifting day out, the event plays a vital role in raising funds to support mental health services across Nottinghamshire.
As a local Mind, Nottinghamshire Mind is independently run and responsible for raising its own funds to deliver mental health support across the county. Funds raised through the Mental Elf Festive Fun Run will directly help provide essential services including community groups and counselling, ensuring people have access to support.
Katie Freeman, Community Fundraising Lead at Nottinghamshire Mind, said:
“We’re proud to be hosting our Mental Elf Festive Fun Run once again this year. They’ve been such fun events that we couldn’t not do it again!
Running or walking can help us switch off from everyday pressures, relieve stress and give us time to clear our heads. And being out in the natural world, surrounded by the forest at Sherwood Pines, is a great way to boost your mood as well.
Joining our festive 5k family fun run is a great opportunity to boost your mental and physical health while also raising vital funds to help us in our fight to make sure everyone in Nottinghamshire with a mental health problem gets the support and respect they deserve.
We are also looking for local companies to help sponsor the event as this helps us make the funds raised go even further. If this is something your business would like to get involved in, please do get in touch.”
All participants will receive a medal at the finish line, making it a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
Eager Elf tickets are available now until 10th October 2026, with discounted prices for adults, children, families and teams.
Nottinghamshire Mind is encouraging the community to sign up early, gather their friends and family, and help make this year’s event the biggest yet.
