FESTIVE LIGHTS AND TRIBUTE ACTS TO BRING THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT TO RETFORD AND WORKSOP

PREPARATIONS are underway for this year’s eagerly awaited Christmas events in Worksop and Retford town centres to kick off the festive season.

Delivered by North Notts BID, this year’s free to attend Christmas markets and light switch-on events will take place in Worksop’s Old Market Square from 12 noon to 6:30pm on Saturday 26 November, followed by proceedings in Retford’s town square from 11am to 6pm on the Sunday.

Sally Gillborn, chief executive at North Notts BID said:

“The Christmas events are always a memorable occasion for the district. The spectacle will be a great way to bring in the festive season, as we continue to deliver an exciting mix of new and returning much loved family events, all of which are part of the BID’s second term to enhance North Notts as a go to destination.”

The Worksop switch-on event will feature a performance from iconic tribute band Complete Madness, who will be performing as the fireworks are set off from 6pm until 6.30pm. Slyde – who performed a showstopping set at last year’s Worksop event – will be closing this year’s event at Retford.

Both events are set to have their biggest festive market to date, including fair rides and food and drink stalls, where families will be able to enjoy tasty treats and refreshing drinks while enjoying the shows.

Sally added:

“These events are a staple inclusion in the district’s festivities and are great opportunities for families to sample and engage with local vendors, with a significant surge in footfall anticipated over the weekend.

“It is sure to be a thrilling weekend for all – we can’t wait for families across both Retford and Worksop to come along and join in the fun and excitement the events have to offer.”
