NOTTINGHAM, UK— 7, September, 2022— During the £6.5 million renovation process, the team at Hilton Nottingham have enjoyed finding out more about the history of the hotel with the help of local historian, Janine Tanner. Due to the age and history of the building, Janine has organised a Blue Plaque for the hotel to celebrate its history. A blue plaque is a permanent sign that is attached to a public place to commemorate a link between that location and a famous person, event, or former building on the site, serving as a historical marker. The wording on the plaque will read:
HILTON NOTTINGHAM – Designed by Robert William Edis and opened in 1903, this building was originally named the Victoria Station Hotel, and was built to accommodate the passengers of the adjoining Victoria Railway Station, which opened in 1900 and was demolished in 1967.
Sue Cave, General Manager, Hilton Nottingham, said
“We are so excited to be able to add this blue plaque to our hotel building at 3:00pm on 7th September, as part of the finishing touches of our hotel transformation. History is such an important part of our lives and we are thrilled to be able to recognize this magnificent building which has such a part to play in the cultural history of Nottingham City.”
