NORTH Notts BID has installed 30 Stop the Bleed kits within its network of defibrillator locations across Bassetlaw, strengthening access to lifesaving emergency equipment for businesses and communities across the district.
Delivered in partnership with Academy Transformation Trust Further Education (ATTFE) and funded by the East Midlands Combined County Authority, the project builds on North Notts BID’s ongoing work to support health, safety and wellbeing across the district, including its investment in defibrillators and first aid training.
The kits are designed to help control severe or life-threatening bleeding in the crucial minutes before emergency services arrive. They can be used in incidents including serious workplace or machinery accidents, road traffic collisions and other traumatic injuries where significant blood loss occurs.

“We have continued to invest in initiatives across our industrial, town centre and rural areas that support the health and safety of our business community and the wider district, so adding Stop the Bleed kits to our extensive defibrillator network significantly expands accessibility to lifesaving equipment.
“In an emergency, every second counts and having the right equipment available can make a vital difference while waiting for emergency services to arrive. We are pleased to be working with ATTFE and the East Midlands Combined County Authority to make this additional support available across Bassetlaw.”
The Stop the Bleed kits contain equipment to help someone responding to an emergency apply pressure to a wound, control major bleeding and, where appropriate, use a tourniquet to manage life-threatening bleeding from a limb.
The rollout builds on North Notts BID’s wider emergency provision, with 30 defibrillators installed across the district since 2019 and registered on The Circuit national database to help emergency services locate the nearest device and provide access codes during 999 calls. In July, North Notts BID and ATTFE delivered its first free interactive Stop the Bleed workshop to BID members, with further courses to be announced.
Each kit will be housed within an existing defibrillator box across Worksop, Retford, Harworth and Bircotes, Misterton and Tuxford, including industrial and business areas where machinery, vehicles and other workplace risks are present.
Sally added: “Our defibrillator network has already helped ensure businesses and members of the public have access and fundamental knowledge to use essential emergency equipment across the district. By placing Stop the Bleed kits alongside these devices, we can further strengthen that provision and give people access to another potentially lifesaving resource when they need it most.”
