Nottingham Carnival is Back!

Nottingham Carnival returns on 21st August from 12 noon until 8pm with a spectacular one-day event on the Victoria Embankment, Nottingham

Come, see and experience a programme of colourful costumes, music and cuisine showcasing the influence of Caribbean, Brazilian and African cultures on our city.

Due to Covid-19, the Nottingham Carnival has been ‘virtual’ for the last two years, so there is a lot of excitement about having the real outdoor event again. Richard Renwick, Chair of Nottingham Carnival, said:

‘We are so excited to be back in 2022. Nothing beats the sight of the amazing Carnival Parade, the live music sounds and the taste of the world foods we offer.’

As always, the parade will be the centrepiece of the Carnival. At any point on the route, spectators can watch a spectacle featuring hundreds of colourful costumes dancing to the lively beats of soca music, steelband and samba drums. As before, the parade will follow a circular route around the Victoria Embankment and The Meadows Recreation Ground.

The parade marks the culmination of months of hard work by Carnival artists and volunteers working tirelessly to hand-craft their spectacular, colourful costumes and choreograph their moves.

On the carnival site, visitors can enjoy the musical entertainment on the main stage and in three other zones featuring live bands and DJs playing soca, calypso, steelpan, dancehall, reggae, lovers rock, jungle, grime, afro beat and more. There’s also a variety of trade and food stalls and funfair.

Entry to the Carnival site is £5 for adults and free for under 12s.

Everyone is welcome at this family-friendly event. So come on down to the bank of the River Trent and enjoy the excitement and spectacle of the Nottingham Carnival 2022.
