NOTTINGHAM TRENT UNIVERSITY SWEEPS THE BOARD AT PRESTIGIOUS FASHION AWARDS

Nottingham Trent University lived up to its home city’s lace making and textile heritage by winning six out of the eight awards up for grabs at last night’s Fashanne – Fashion Designers of the Future Awards. Showcasing the fantastic fashion design talent in our universities Fashanne aims to connect the next generation with industry and has brought together some of Britain’s most iconic fashion and retail brands including Paul Smith, John Smedley, Pentland and Next to name but a few, to help foster and nurture these young designers. The winners will now be offered internships and mentoring from their category sponsor, building long-term sustainable connections in a fiercely competitive industry. Previous winners have gone onto design jobs with the likes of Hugo Boss, Boden, All Saints and Ted Baker.

Held at the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Nottingham, the evening played host to the great and the good from across the fashion and business worlds. Joined by the legendary Patrick Grant of BBC’s Great British Sewing Bee, journalist and TV presenter and founder of Fashanne, Anne Davies, took to the stage to welcome celebrity models amputee Sian Lord, double gold Paralympian Richard Whitehead MBE and drag artist Cheddar Gorgeous, who strutted the catwalk to the delight of guests. Championing diversity, equality, inclusivity and sustainability, the 2022 Fashanne Awards proved that the future of the fashion industry is in good hands.

Amongst the guests, Sir John Peace, Lord Lieutenant of Nottingham and ex-chairman of Burberry, and Her Grace, The Duchess of Rutland were seen to be enjoying the show and congratulating the winners.
