Tickets are now on sale for the much-loved Castle Beer Festival 2027 – and this year Nottingham’s independent brewing community is celebrating with a partnership that will also benefit one of the city’s most iconic residents. The breweries behind the annual festival have joined forces to donate their spent brewers’ grain to help feed the deer at Wollaton Park, ensuring that a by-product of brewing continues to have a valuable purpose long after the beer has been enjoyed. Due to the ongoing drought conditions they are getting seriously low on available food.
The initiative brings together four of Nottinghamshire’s best-known independent breweries – Blue Monkey Brewery, Castle Rock Brewery, Shipstones Brewery and Lincoln Green Brewery – alongside Nottingham City Council, which is home to both the Castle Beer Festival and Wollaton Park. The donation reflects the festival’s community spirit while highlighting the sustainability efforts already taking place behind the scenes within the region’s brewing industry.
The announcement also marks the launch of ticket sales for Castle Beer Festival 2027, which returns to the beautiful grounds of Nottingham Castle from Friday 24 May to Saturday 25 May 2027.
Now entering its third year, the festival has quickly become one of Nottingham’s favourite events, bringing together thousands of visitors to enjoy exceptional independent beers, live music from local bands, fantastic street food and one of the city’s most spectacular outdoor settings.
The festival showcases the strength of Nottinghamshire’s brewing scene, giving beer lovers the opportunity to discover a wide range of locally brewed ales, lagers and craft beers while supporting independent businesses.
Ian Wesley, Commercial Director at Blue Monkey Brewery, said:
“Castle Beer Festival has become a real celebration of Nottingham’s independent brewing community. We’re proud to work alongside Castle Rock, Shipstones and Lincoln Green to create an event that people genuinely look forward to every year.
We were asked by the council events team who run the castle and Wollaton park if we could help them feed the deer who were running out of food due to the drought, donating our spent brewers’ grain to help feed the deer seemed a perfect fit. It’s a simple idea that supports local wildlife, reduces waste and connects two much-loved Nottingham destinations. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back next April for what promises to be another fantastic weekend.”
Visitors can expect hundreds of beers from independent breweries, great live entertainment throughout the weekend, quality street food and the unique atmosphere that has helped establish Castle Beer Festival as one of Nottingham’s standout events. Whether you’re a dedicated real ale enthusiast or simply looking for a great day out with friends, Castle Beer Festival offers something for everyone while continuing to champion Nottingham’s proud brewing heritage.
