NTU to open the 2022 art and design Student Showcase

A showcase with a prestigious history of featuring award-winning works by graduating artists and designers is set to open at Nottingham Trent University as a public exhibition.

Taking place at the University’s City Campus, the 2022 Student Showcase is completely free to the public and features creative works from students in the Nottingham School of Art & Design and the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment.

The show will feature subjects spanning visual arts, photography and graphic design; fashion, knitwear and textile design; fashion management, marketing and communication; theatre, media, film and costume design; architecture, interior architecture, architectural technology; product and furniture design.

Students’ work will feature at external competitions and exhibitions nationally, including fashion and knitwear design at Graduate Fashion Week, photography at Free Range in London, various course areas at New Designers including product and furniture design, and fine art galleries and other spaces local to Nottingham.

Online exhibitions will take place: works by students in the Nottingham School of Art & Design will be available from 25 May at www.wearecreativesntu.art while students in the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment will exhibit their works from 27 May at www.ntudesignindustries.com and www.architecture-ntu.com.

Michael Marsden, Executive Dean of the Nottingham School of Art & Design, said:

“The past two years have provided us with an opportunity to think differently about how we exhibit our students’ incredible work, and have enabled us to change and improve the ways in which we hold our Student Showcase.

“So we’re very excited to now be in a position to exhibit the University’s vast array of art and design talent in multiple ways, including online, at new external gallery spaces, at national events and once again at our amazing City Campus.

“These shows represent the culmination of the hard work by our graduating students and the dedication of our colleagues who work tirelessly to support them in becoming the next generation of creative professionals.”

Dr Andrew Knight, Executive Dean of the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment, said:

“It’s a wonderful prospect to once again be hosting a large-scale public exhibition of our amazing students’ work. They are among the leading graduating designers in the UK and we’re very proud of their achievements.

“The Student Showcase gives the public a unique opportunity to come onto our flagship City Campus and see first-hand how our industry-ready graduates have the potential to shape the future, as they prepare to embark on their creative careers across a variety of subject areas.”

Different course areas will exhibit at different times for the in-person shows. Please visit www.ntu.ac.uk/c/student-showcase for all information and to book your place.
