Shot of Rufford Abbey in the sunshine

Rufford Abbey set to host ‘Great British Beer Garden’ providing summer fun for all the Family throughout August

July 2022 – This August, Rufford Abbey is set to expand its summer offering by hosting a huge family friendly beer garden and a range of family events at the site.

The ‘Great British Beer Garden’ will be open every Thursday to Sunday throughout August, located opposite the play area in Barons (formally the Savile’s Restaurant) with lots of green space for children to run around, play and keep occupied. Suitable for all the family, food including pizzas, platters and wedges will be available plus an Ice Cream Parlour open daily from 12 noon – 5 pm. Happy hour will also run from 4 pm – 6 pm every Saturday and Sunday for the adults to enjoy.

The event will provide free family entertainment with no need to pre-book or purchase tickets. It is set to create inexpensive, summer fun for all the family. There will also be additional events for children and families including:

Tuesday’s: Professor Paul Temples Famous Punch and Judy Show

Free to attend every Tuesday in August, with show times at 12 pm, 1 pm, and 3 pm. Guests will get the chance to set up blankets on the lawn and enjoy a modern-day version of the classic seaside show.

Wednesday’s: White Post Farm Petting Zoo

Every Wednesday from 10 am – 4 pm, children and families will get the opportunity to meet

a selection of the animals from White Post Farm. With a small cost of £2.50 per child, it makes for an inexpensive day out.

Thursday’s: Teddy Bears Picnic

Every Thursday in August from 12 – 1.30 pm, families can join a mass gathering of teddy bear fans to enjoy a picnic on the lawn. Children will be encouraged to bring their favourite teddy to the lawn to join family and friends in singing nursery rhymes and enjoying the day together. This event is free to attend, however, the experience doesn’t include any food and drink and will be subject to the weather.

Kirsty Edwards, Contract Manager at Rufford Abbey has said:

“I am thoroughly excited to welcome the local community and hopefully beyond, to Rufford Abbey to our Great British Beer Garden. We have a range of activities on offer, in addition to the bar, to make the days family-friendly events. There is absolutely no requirement to pre-book a space, simply just turn up and enjoy everything we have to offer. Hopefully, the good weather continues over the course of the events!”
