The Workhouse and Infirmary, in Southwell (NG25 0PT)

Head over to The Workhouse and Infirmary in Southwell to take on the Deterioration Detective Trail, spotting all the ways the National Trust looks after this special place, from fire damage to bug infestations. The trail will take you indoors across both buildings and children exploring for hours. On Thursday 1 and Saturday 3 June, there are opportunities to meet costumed workhouse characters carrying out their daily tasks in ‘Workhouse: Live!’. Delve into their lives with storytelling throughout the day and even some pauper activities to try out for yourself. Open Wednesday – Sunday, 10.30am – 4pm, last admission 3pm. Trails cost £2 each. Normal admission charges apply.

Clumber Park (S80 3BE)

From 27 May – 4 June, launch yourselves into half term with a host of free self-led activities to keep the family active and entertained. Make a day of it by packing a picnic and heading to the Front Field for sports and loose play. We’ll be relaunching family orienteering with maps available from the Discovery Centre enabling visitors to guide themselves around our new route and test their orienteering skills. Inside the Discovery Centre, children can connect with nature by beginning their ‘50 things to do before your 11¾’ journey, or how about exploring our ‘50 things to do when you’re a bit older too’. On 30 & 31 May, get creative with the team down at Lake Brew, by the lake in Hardwick village, for stick art craft sessions. Clumber Park is open seven days a week. Admission into the park applies.
