Sundown Adventureland has revealed a bumper number of visitors to its Christmas Santa Train installation this year – and puts it down to families wanting to treat the family to something extra special after a hard financial year
A staggering 40,000 visitors have booked tickets to the family-owned theme park near Retford this festive season, which has been running its popular Christmas train, part of its Christmas Spectacular event for 30 years
“It is always incredibly popular with our loyal fans but this year has been extra busy with over 40,000 visitors purchasing tickets to treat their families to something special,”
says Debs Griffin, granddaughter of the Sundown’s founder Audrey Roberts who sadly passed away in 2021
“Everyone has had it tough this year with lots of extra pressures financially so it absolutely fitting that families can come together at Christmas and do something festive together. We are honoured that many have chosen Sundown to share that moment with them
“With the big day just around the corner, this week marks the final chance for other families to share their festive wish list with Santa, with some last-minute weekday tickets up for grabs.”
The Christmas Spectacular sees the park transform into a beautiful and breathtaking winter wonderland, featuring the popular ‘Night Before Christmas’ ride, which takes visitors on a mesmerising sleigh ride through the enchanted forest to Father Christmas’ Magical Grotto
Once there, guests will have the opportunity to share their Christmas requests with the main man himself and receive a beautifully wrapped gift to take home
Designed especially for under 10’s, Sundown Adventureland will also be decked with thousands of sparkling lights and Christmas decorations to enhance the festive atmosphere. There’s a great range of seasonal food and drinks also on offer at the Four Seasons Arena, including mince pies, cookies, pizza, nachos and hot chocolate
“The weekend slots have been sold out for months in advance, but for some lucky families we have a very limited number of tickets remaining for 20th to 22nd December – the perfect week to get in the festive spirit and build excitement ahead of the big day,”
said Debs
Tickets for the Christmas Spectacular start from £19 for adults and from £23 for children, with discounts available for the over 65s, Blue Light Holders and disabled guests. Tickets include the visit to Father Christmas’ grotto and access to all the wider park.
