Sustainability and Accessibility

Nottingham has declared an ambitious goal of being carbon neutral by 2028. We have a great reputation of reducing our carbon footprint as a city, with great public transport, innovative energy from waste and district heating systems, and more solar panels per head than any other city. We have 68 parks with Green Flag Status, more than any other UK city. But we need to do much more.

We can support inward investment in the clean technology sector, and will work with tourist destinations that promote more sustainable visitor experiences. We look forward to the creation of Sherwood Forest as a National Forest as a way to reduce CO2.

Accessibility is a really important factor in the visitor economy. We want to ensure that all visitors to the area feel welcome, and can experience the very best that we have to offer without barriers. We encourage all tourism and leisure partners and businesses to provide services that can be accessed by everyone, irrespective of disability, race, gender, age, religious or cultural barriers.
