Sustainability and Accessibility

Nottingham has declared an ambitious goal of being carbon neutral by 2028. We have a great reputation of reducing our carbon footprint as a city, with green public transport and innovative energy from waste and district heating systems. We have 68 parks with Green Flag Status, more than any other UK city.

We can support inward investment in the clean technology sector, and will work with tourist destinations that promote more sustainable visitor experiences.

Accessibility is a really important factor in the visitor economy. We want to ensure that all visitors to the area feel welcome, and can experience the very best that Nottingham and Nottinghamshire have to offer without barriers. We encourage all tourism and leisure partners and businesses to provide services that can be accessed by everyone, irrespective of disability, race, gender, age, religious or cultural barriers.

We work closely with Visit England and AccessAble to provide local visitor economy businesses with knowledge and tools to support them becoming more accessible and continue to improve our visitor-facing website to include more accessibility symbols and ways accessible venues can be easily identified.
