Summer Sundays Bring Live Music And Retro Vibes To Binks Yard

NOTTINGHAM canal-side food and entertainment destination Binks Yard, is bringing the energy every Sunday this summer, with a line-up of live music events on the terrace. Across August and September, the outdoor plaza will host themed parties packed with DJs, live acts, dancing and a festival feel that offers something different every week.

The terrace will come alive with the Rockabilly Festival on Sunday 10 August as three of the UK’s best rock ‘n’ roll bands take to the stage. Guests can expect music from The Kingshakes, Midnight Shift and Highway Junkies, with DJ sets from resident Dan James and live performances from rockabilly dancers, encouraging everyone to join them on the dancefloor. Classic Hot Rod cars will also be on display, helping create a full day of vintage celebration. Tickets are £5 and available to book now.

The Binks Rock Party follows on Sunday 17 August, with a full day of classic rock and punk favourites from 1pm to 10pm. Resident DJ Dan James and guests will be playing everything from ACDC to Queen, Led Zeppelin to Guns N’ Roses. At 4pm, Nottingham’s very own Exhibit A will take the stage. Known for their high-energy live shows, the band will bring a powerful mix of covers that span decades of rock history. Entry is free and no ticket is required.

Arpita Anstey, marketing director at The Island Quarter, said: “Our Sunday events bring something special to the city. With live music, good food and a relaxed outdoor setting, it’s about creating moments that feel different. Whether you’re here for rock ‘n’ roll, disco, rock or soul, there’s a Sunday session with your name on it. The terrace really comes into its own in summer and there’s nowhere else quite like it in the city. The weekend doesn’t have to stop on a Saturday, and these events are the perfect way to keep the good times going.”

Further events still to come this year, include the Soul and Funk All-Dayer which will take place on Sunday 31 August, marking its third year at Binks Yard. From 1pm to 10pm, the event will see some of Nottingham’s best vinyl DJs spin classics from the ‘70s and ‘80s, creating a laid-back atmosphere with timeless grooves and smooth beats. The event is free and open to all, with food and drink available throughout the day from Binks Yard’s outdoor stalls and bar.

The final event in the series is the Day Disco on Sunday 28 September. There, guests can enjoy a full day of disco favourites played by vinyl-only DJs and a live band. Music from the likes of Earth Wind and Fire, Chic, Sister Sledge, Kool and the Gang and more will keep the party going from 1pm to 10pm. Entry is free and no ticket is needed to join the fun.
