Nottingham Playhouse Launches Fundraising Campaign ‘Your Seat. Your Story.’

As part of Giving Tuesday, Nottingham Playhouse has launched a fundraising campaign focused on its auditorium seat dedications, called ‘Your Seat. Your Story.’

Giving Tuesday is a day that inspires millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate their favourite charities. Nottingham Playhouse is highlighting its Seat Dedications as a way to provide a meaningful, long-lasting gift that brings joy to the recipient whilst also supporting Nottingham Playhouse as a charity.

Your Seat. Your Story. features individuals who have dedicated a seat telling their very personal stories – in these cases, to each other, and to their grandchildren – and many corporate organisations and famous names who have dedicated a seat over the years, including Sir Paul Smith, Sir Ian McKellen and Richard Eyre.

Watch Maggie and TrudySimon and Caroline tell their stories on YouTube.

310 people currently hold Seat Dedications in the historic Nottingham Playhouse auditorium. People choose to dedicate a seat for many reasons: to remember loved ones, to showcase a love of theatre or to mark a particular milestone.

As a charity, the funds raised from seat dedications go on to support not just the work on stage, but the transformative experiences brought to adults, young people and vulnerable groups through the over 60 different programmes offered by the Participation team.

From cutting edge drama like Punch to gripping adaptations of classics like Animal Farm, exciting brand-new productions like Dear Evan Hansen to the glittering annual pantomime, Nottingham Playhouse means a lot to many people. If you’ve been moved to tears or fits of laughter, theatre can have a lasting impact and builds memories to be cherished long after the curtain calls.

Each dedication is personalised and tells a story that can be remembered for years to come. Each seat dedication is a personalised, printed plaque that sits on a chosen seat in the auditorium for 10 years. The cost of £300 is equivalent to £30 a year or £2.50 a month over the same period. There is also the opportunity to purchase a Seat Dedication in perpetuity, which is a very generous way to support the theatre.

You can buy a Seat Dedication on-line at or call the Box Office team on 0115 941 9419.
