EAST MIDLANDS’ BIGGEST ENTERTAINMENT VENUE CELEBRATES HIGH NUMBER OF FEMALE EMPLOYEES AHEAD OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

MORE WOMEN THAN MEN ARE EMPLOYED BY THE VENUE IN THE MALE DOMINATED LIVE ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORT INDUSTRY

It is no secret that the live entertainment and sport industry is largely dominated by males, with the live music workforce across the UK made up of just 49% of women. Ahead of International Women’s Day, the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is proud to break the bias with a workforce that is made up of 58% women.

These women take on a huge variety of roles throughout the East Midlands’ biggest entertainment venue. From Venue Manager and Head of Marketing and Communications to Event Managers and Ice Sports Assistants, many women of all ages and backgrounds excel in their various disciplines throughout the company. Furthermore, 56% of the venue’s managerial and senior leadership roles are made up of women.

Ruth Andrews, Head of Marketing and Communications at the venue said:

“2022’s International Women’s Day campaign theme is centred around creating a world that is free from bias, celebrates diversity and provides equal opportunities for all. As a company that embraces change, celebrates each other’s differences and values inclusivity for all, we felt it was important to highlight and celebrate our gender diverse workforce on this important occasion”.

Donna Gately, the venue’s General Manager commented:

“I’m delighted to be able to celebrate our female workforce on International Women’s Day. Together we create a diverse patchwork of employees that bring a range of invaluable experience, knowledge, and positivity to the company. Not just today, but every day, we are grateful for our large female workforce and are extremely thankful for their hard work.”

The National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham will celebrate International Women’s Day on Tuesday 8 March with a social media campaign to pay tribute to its female workforce.
