HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL… IT’S IN NOTTINGHAM!

  • The festival brings rooftop-dwelling monsters, spider school, Batman and his Batmobile, and so many more spooky activities to the city.
  • Discover Nottingham city centre with your family and friends for free this October half term

Look up! Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID) is bringing monstrously good things to Nottingham city centre this Halloween half term!

Families and visitors to the city will be witness to a (friendly) invasion of massive rooftop monsters as four colourful giants take up residence – tentacles and all. Look out for them at the Theatre Royal, Bravissimo on Bridlesmith Gate, Victoria Centre main entrance, and the Council House in Old Market Square. Make sure you keep looking up from mid-October, you really won’t be able to miss them!

Further enhancing the city-centre experience in Nottingham this year, Batman and his Batmobile will be making a guest appearance on King Street, in the heart of the city, on Sunday 30 October between 10am and 4pm. To see which Batmobile he’s bringing, visit the It’s in Nottingham webpage at: www.itsinnottingham.com/ideas-inspiration/halloween-2022/

Festivities continue with a spider school at St James Hotel on Sunday 30 October, where children and families can learn all about real-life creepy crawlies. Our spider experts will be bringing with them a variety of spiders and other wriggly insects and reptiles for you to see and ask questions about. To protect the animals, it won’t be possible to touch them, sorry, but our experts will be able to give you a close-up look at them, and share some fiendish facts about our mini monsters!

For those with a sweet tooth, over 80 city centre shops will be hosting Halloween sweet-stops, where shoppers and visitors can pick up a free Halloween treat. Children over three years of age can also complete their Halloween outfit with a spooky look, from the face painters dotted around the city at various locations on Sunday 30 October.

For more information, head to the Nottingham Tourism Centre* on Smithy Row from Monday 10 October, to pick up a map showing all the festival venues and monster locations. Maps will also be available to pick up from the Batmobile and the face painting locations on Sunday 30 October 2022.

During half term, Nottingham BID is also offering FREE fun and practical first aid sessions to introduce children to lifesaving first aid skills.

The sessions will be split into two age groups: 3-6 year olds and 7-11 year olds and will be taking place on Wednesday 19 October and Wednesday 26 October 2022 at John Lewis and Partners, Victoria Centre.

Commenting on the Halloween Festival, Alex Flint, CEO of Nottingham BID said:

“Nottingham BID is incredibly excited to bring this event to the city and we’re confident that the monster invasion will be a fantastic surprise and delight to visitors. With the cost of living very much in people’s minds, this event will allow families to celebrate Halloween and participate in a festival full of free entertainment and activities during the October half term.”
