The team behind the hugely popular, Southern style restaurant, Hickory’s Smokehouse are getting ready to swing open the doors at their impressive new restaurant in Gamston.
Hot on the heels of their much-loved Nuthall site, the new restaurant promises to be a hub for local BBQ aficionados, sports fans, families and the wider community across South Nottingham and beyond.
The Chester based company opened their first Hickory’s in Chester over 14 years ago and have restaurants across the North-West, North Wales, Yorkshire and closer to home across the East Midlands.
So, what can you expect?
Authenticity is key here and the team take their inspiration from their regular trips across the Southern States, so you can expect with lots of quirky touches and Southern inspired design ideas, all focussed on creating a welcoming space for the local community.
The whole family has been thought of at Hickory’s Gamston, with a range of seating from cosy booths to larger tables for groups and extended families to enjoy. Plus, their famous Chef’s Bar will take centre stage, allowing guests to watch the chefs in action- quite possibly the best seat in the house!
In the garden you will find a large terrace with cosy, heated, dining huts. Billed as ‘the perfect spot for outside drinking and dining – whatever the weather’, the team have created a laid-back Southern vibe that guests are sure to love. Along with the garden, the little ones have also been thought of and the new design includes a safe, secure outside play area- it will be the perfect place for the whole family to unwind and enjoy time together.
And if all that wasn’t enough, younger guests will go wild for their signature cinema room, and interactive Fro-Co (frozen custard) Creation Station!

If you love your BBQ, you’re not going to be disappointed.
The menu is packed full of the flavours of the Deep South, with classic smokehouse dishes such as Memphis ribs, Texas-style brisket and BBQ pulled pork all smoked low ‘n’ slow in “Ole Hickory” and “Southern Pride” smokers using hickory wood – which have made it across the Atlantic taking pride and place in the restaurant. And let’s not forget burgers, subs, steaks, and fajitas, alongside a selection of vegetarian options – the menu has something for everyone.
They’ve got guests covered with quirky desserts, milkshakes, sodas, cocktails & a collection of over 25 bourbons to try, easy-drinking session ales and a selection of bottles & craft beers. Guests are equally welcome for drinks in the bar as they are for dining.
