Investigate paranormal activity and witchcraft at Creswell Crags this Halloween

Where better to spend this Halloween than a place of that’s full of caves, witches and bones? Creswell Crags has all of these and many more stories to tell our visitors this spooky October.  From Monday 24th to Sunday 30th October come and join the team for a whole host of Halloween fun.

From Monday 24th to Friday 28th October you can join in with the Pumpkin Carving.  We’ll provide all the tools and the pumpkins; you just need to carve!  We’ll even have ideas and templates to help you, and we’ll clean up the mess too!

On Saturday 29th October join Derby Paranormal in Robin Hood’s Cave as they conduct a series of Paranormal Investigations.  There have long been tales of ghostly apparitions on the Lake, of visitors feeling a presence, seeing unexplained lights or hearing noises deep in the cave.  Did local people think evil lurked in the cave, and try to keep it inside?  Did they think the cave was an entrance to the underworld?  This Halloween we’ll see whether a paranormal investigation can shed any light on the mystery – or maybe raise even more questions.

On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th October our Witch Marks Tours will have an even spookier twist. Travel back to a time of superstition and witchcraft and discover the 17th Century secrets of Robin Hood Cave.  Your ghostly guide will lead you into the Gorge and around the cave, describing their world of plague, fear, and poverty, and explain why they carved protective symbols into the rock all those years ago.  During the Twilight Zone Witch Marks Tour your guide will delve deeper into the world of Witch Marks, and discover the horrors of the time and place that shaped their creation.  With talk of religious persecution, the nature of alleged witchcraft, and the Devil, this exploration of the Gorge and Robin Hood Cave as the sun sets will be sure to set your spine tingling.

Finally on Sunday 30th October our monthly Stone Age Storytime in ‘Mother Grundy’s Parlour’ will be a fun hour of Halloween stories!  Children aged 5 – 11 will be led on a special Halloween journey through story and picture books with our resident Stone Age storyteller, Simon, in the wonderful cave of Mother Grundy’s Parlour.  Dress up for Halloween and enjoy an hour of spooky fun.
