Nottingham CAMRA announces Back to the Pub campaign

The coronavirus pandemic has brought pain and heartbreak for many and whilst it is still impacting on society we must look to the future. The economic damage is continuing and local breweries and pubs have been heavily hit.

The ‘lockdown’, whilst vital, inflicted huge harm and although pubs are now able to reopen they are doing so with reduced capacity and social distancing – again an essential requirement in these difficult times. There is a new ‘norm’ now in pubs that embraces social distancing and offers covid safe responsible environments.

Nottingham CAMRA have always championed local pubs, serving real ales and ciders, and we are continuing with this with the launch of our ‘Back to the Pub’ campaign/promotion.

Steve Westby, Chairman, Nottingham CAMRA  said “Local pubs have experienced a very difficult time, being closed during lockdown and now in many cases since re-opening suffering a significant drop in trade. We feel that it is important to do all we can to help get them back on their feet, to avoid suffering yet more pub closures. Our campaign is just one way of encouraging individuals to get back to the pub

During the month of October pubs displaying the ‘Support your local pub’ poster will be part of the campaign/promotion. To participate in this promotion pub goers will only need to visit 15 different pubs recording the name of the pub, date of visit, cask ale/cider tried and obtain the unique reference number given to each participating pub.

To make the campaign as inclusive as possible, pub landlords are urged to contact info@nottinghamcamra.org to sign up to the promotion.
