Nottingham City Transport has announced further changes to its network, as part of a wider effort from EMCCA to replace services and serve parts of Nottingham previously operated by CT4N.
From Tuesday 1st September 2026, the full 18, 18A, 18B, 18X timetable will begin, boosting the frequency of buses to Beeston Rylands to every 30 minutes and reinstating the links between Wollaton, Bramcote and Beeston. The weekday commuter service 18X between Stapleford and Nottingham direct along the A52 will also resume.
From the same date, NCT will start serving Nottingham Business Park and Assarts Farm by extending its Turquoise 78 bus from Strelley.
Buses will operate every hour on Monday to Saturday daytimes, reinstating the link to Nottingham City Centre, as well as providing connections to other NCT bus services, such as the 35 to QMC.
Assarts Farm and Nottingham Business Park will see a frequency boost from Monday 28th September 2026, when the Turquoise 78 will run every 30 minutes and also extend to Phoenix Park for connections to the tram, and Bulwell Town Centre.
David Conway, Head of Operations at Nottingham City Transport said,
“After stepping in at short notice to replace the 18 on an introductory hourly timetable, we are now able to reinstate the full 18 group of services, as well as bring Nottingham Business Park and Assarts Farm on to the NCT network. We’ve been encouraged by the early feedback from customers on the 18 and look forward to welcoming more people aboard our buses in early September through these enhancements”.
Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward said,
“We know how important these bus services are for people who rely on them every day, which is why we have been working at pace to ensure replacement services are in place following the withdrawal of CT4N routes. With our support, NCT has played an important role in helping get these services up and running quickly, protecting vital links for residents, workers and businesses. We are continuing to work through the remaining affected routes, and people can be assured that we will share further updates on replacement services as soon as they are ready to come online.”
The timetables for NCT 18 and 78 services from 1st September 2026 are available at www.nctx.co.uk with the 78 timetable through to Bulwell available in early September.
The East Midlands Combined County Authority will separately advise on replacement services in other areas, which will be operated under contract to the authority.
