Members of Nottingham-based Our Dementia Choir have been proudly representing Nottinghamshire on a national stage, wearing their Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Ambassador badges during a memorable two-day visit to London this Summer.
The choir, founded by local actress Vicky McClure MBE, travelled to the capital to perform at a service in the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral before taking time out to enjoy a visit to London Zoo. Throughout the trip, members proudly wore their Ambassador badges, helping to promote Nottinghamshire while sharing a powerful message about living well with dementia.
The Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Ambassador Programme celebrates individuals who are passionate about the city and county and who help raise its profile through their work, achievements and community involvement. Our Dementia Choir embodies these values, using every opportunity to showcase their Nottinghamshire roots on a national stage.

“Our Dementia Choir is incredibly proud of its Nottinghamshire roots, and this visit has been a wonderful opportunity to represent our city and county on a national stage. Everything we do is about inclusivity, community and showing what’s possible when people living with dementia are supported to thrive.
Over the past two days, our members have been flying the flag for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, sharing not only their music but a powerful message about living well with dementia. Being ambassadors for this amazing place we call home is a real honour, and we’re delighted to showcase the spirit, creativity and compassion that define our county.”
The choir’s London visit was made even more special thanks to support from organisations and businesses across Nottinghamshire. Members travelled in style with Nottingham-based Skills Coaches, who are partnering with the choir throughout 2026/7, and were proudly dressed in Sir Paul Smith donated ties and flower corsages. Vicky McClure introduced the choir at the service St Paul’s Cathedral, part of an event organised by the Benefact Trust attended by 1800 people.
The visit highlights how Nottinghamshire ambassadors come from all walks of life, whether they are business leaders, academics, artists, athletes, community champions or charitable organisations. Through their actions and achievements, they help tell Nottinghamshire’s story far beyond the county’s borders.
The Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Ambassador Programme continues to recognise and connect individuals who are passionate about promoting the destination, creating opportunities to celebrate local success stories and strengthen Nottinghamshire’s reputation nationally and internationally.
