Queer comedy is a riot!

LGBTQIA+ events return to Nottingham Comedy Festival

For its fourth year, LOL-gbtq+ returns to Nottingham Comedy Festival for a series of events celebrating Nottingham’s thriving LGBTQIA+ Drag, comedy and variety scene set across the backdrop of the newly established Rainbow Quarter. In addition to a weekend takeover of shows at The Lord Roberts, featuring Angela Bra, Nana Arthole, Juliette Burton, Chloe Reynolds and the annual fundraiser for Nottingham Queer Arts Collective and The Spencer Trust, for the first time an LGBTQIA+ ‘Spotlight’ event will be held at Saltbox, showcasing six up-and-coming LGBTQIA+ comedians from Nottingham and the surrounding area, made possible through Arts Council England.

When asked about the events, promotor Dan Webber said:

“it’s always fantastic to be a part of Nottingham Comedy Festival and it’s been my privilege to have programming LGBTQIA+ activity for the last four years, not only showcasing the best queer comedy talent from across the country, but supporting the next generation of LGBTQIA+ talent in the city and providing a safe and welcoming space for the community, Nottingham Comedy Festival is turning 18 this year and the acts you’ll see at the showcases this year may well be the next festival headliners”.

The LGBTQIA+ Spotlight Showcase takes place on 1st November at Saltbox and the LOL-gbtq+ at The Lord Roberts takeover weekend takes place from 6th to 7th November, tickets for all events are available from the Nottingham Comedy Festival website.
