SKATE INTO CHRISTMAS AT THE NATIONAL ICE CENTRE WITH A MAGICAL SANTA’S GROTTO

With a magical Santa’s Grotto and a fantastic festive schedule, get ready to skate into Christmas at the National Ice Centre!

Launching on Saturday 26 November, Christmas skating events will run throughout the festive season until Sunday 8 January. With skating options available for all ages and abilities, sessions can be enjoyed indoors whatever the weather, surrounded by thousands of twinkling lights and a majestic tree.

Meet Santa and his elves at the National Ice Centre’s Santa’s Grotto on selected dates, skate with the Nottingham Panthers ice hockey players on 20 December, or skate with festive characters on 17 December.

Along with festive tots sessions, pyjama parties, relaxed skating events and more, there’s something for everyone at the National Ice Centre. Plus, children aged 5 and under skate for free!

Events include:

Santa’s Grotto

Open from 10am – 4:15pm on Saturday 17 December, Sunday 18 December, Wednesday 21 December, Thursday 22 December, Friday 23 December and Saturday 24 December

£15 per child includes a meet with Santa in his festive grotto, Christmas gift, ice skating, child’s hot chocolate, ‘Where’s Wally’ style Christmas wall mural and quiz so children can enjoy looking for festive characters prior to their time with Santa, plus colouring stations to keep the little ones entertained.

Get your Christmas wish list ready because Santa will be visiting the National Ice Centre! Alongside setting up Santa’s grotto, the elves will be bringing lots of gifts and festive cheer, so come and meet them and the main man this Christmas!

Christmas Light Switch On

Saturday 26 November, 7 – 9pm

Be the first to skate in our Christmas themed rink! We’ll be counting down to the light switch on at 7pm before our first festive skating session begins.

Princess & Superheroes Party

Saturday 3 December, 10:30am – 12:30pm

We’re hosting the most magical skating party of all time! Especially for families, this is the ultimate fancy dress party for your little ones.

Relaxed Skating Party with Festive Characters On Ice

Sunday 4 December, 10:30am – 12:30pm

Our relaxed party is perfect for those who would benefit from a more relaxed atmosphere. Set within a quiet and calm environment, with no music or flashing lights and low-level lighting. Skate among festive characters and have your picture taken with them if you wish.

Christmas Jumper Skate

Friday 9 December

Spread the joy of Christmas and skate in your brightest and silliest Christmas jumper at all our skating sessions on this day!

Festive Tots Sessions

Monday 12 & Monday 19 December, 11:15 – 11:45am

You’re never too young to ice skate! Our popular tots sessions are designed for parents with pre-schoolers. Little ones can take to the ice and grow in confidence at their own pace while they skate with the ice equipment. Pushchairs can also be taken on the ice and children aged 5 and under skate for free!

Skate with our Festive Characters On Ice

Saturday 17 December, 10:30am – 12:30pm

Skate among festive characters to the best Christmas hits at this special session. Memory making pictures guaranteed.

Skate with the Nottingham Panthers

Tuesday 20 December, 6:30pm– 7:30pm

Perfect for ice hockey fans, we’re offering the chance to skate with the Nottingham Panthers players! Meet the players, take photos with them and enjoy a skate around the ice at the same time.

Pyjama Parties

Friday 30 December, 2:30 – 4:30pm & 7 – 9pm

Come along in your coolest set of PJs & we’ll bring the latest tunes and disco vibes. With sessions in both the afternoon and evening, these parties are a great way to spend time with family and friends between Christmas and New Year.

Festive food and drinks will be available and seasonal treats can be enjoyed in the Sub Zero café before, during or after skating.
