Christmas is coming, Lustre is back

  • 40 of the UK’s leading makers in Nottingham for one weekend only
  • A brilliant chance to grab the perfect special gift in the lead up to Christmas

Lakeside Arts are delighted to welcome 40 of the UK’s leading makers to Lustre, their annual contemporary craft and design fair, this November. Taking place over three days from Friday 5 – Sunday 7 November, Lustre this year is presented in a smaller setting but still represents the very best of the UK’s finest established and emerging talent.

A Little Lustre is free to attend and offers the opportunity to buy beautiful handmade objects from range of disciplines, such as jewellery, homeware and clothing. This is a celebration of the creativity of the designers and makers and a showcase of the magnificent work they produce. It is also an opportunity for attendees to treat themselves or their loves ones after a tough year.

The magic of Lustre lies in the people at the heart of the event, the makers, whose return is highly-anticipated. Not only is there an incredibly diverse and unique range of items on offer, but Lustre affords customers the opportunity to meet the makers behind the work and even commission original creations. Combining a range of artistic mediums, cultural inspirations and aesthetics, Lustre offers something for everyone and brings the finest makers in the country together for one very special weekend.

“I am so looking forward to being back at Lustre after a couple of years off, it’s a beautifully curated show. Everyone is so friendly, it’s the perfect place to wander, chat and find really unique work. I can’t wait to talk with customers in real life and share about the inspirations behind the pieces and how I create them.” – Katherine Lees, featured creator (@katherineleesceramics)

This is a joyful opportunity to be able to go out and shop for unique gifts for loved ones in a safe environment as Christmas approaches. Featured stall holders include Ashi Marwaha, whose tactile precious metal jewellery is inspired by the geometry, repetition and pattern found in the architecture and heritage of India and Kenya, and Wolfram Lohr, whose luxury accessories for men and women are made from high quality Italian vegetable tanned leather, which celebrates the importance of slow fashion and sustainability.

“I visited Lustre from around the age of fourteen with my mum, long before my jewellery journey began, just loving anything to do with art. I had a secret dream of one day exhibiting there amongst the incredible makers I admired. I’ve exhibited my jewellery here for a few years now and love the Lustre time of year, there’s real Christmas magic in the air, so many talented makers to meet and beautiful work to be tempted by!” – Lauren Bell Brown, featured creator (@lauren_bellbrownjewellery)

Interest free loans are available on all items available at A Little Lustre thanks to the Arts Council’s Own Art scheme.
