EASTER HOLIDAY ICE SKATING AT THE NATIONAL ICE CENTRE

From a family fun day to themed parent & tots sessions, the National Ice Centre has a great skating schedule for all ages this Easter Holiday!

Plus, there’s a very special public skating event with Stef Reid MBE on Saturday 8 April as she unveils her new portrait image taken by celebrity photographer, Sane Seven.

Disco Fever Skating Party

Get ready to groove at this skating party on Friday 31 March between 7 – 9pm! A DJ will be playing all the hits from the 70s & 80s all the way to present day as the disco ball lights up the rink! Show off your dance moves and have fun as prizes are given to the best disco fancy dress… think retro, sparkles and flower power!

Easter Family Fun Day

On Sunday 2 April, the National Ice Centre are hosting an Easter Family Fun Day!

Enjoy a host of free activities both on the ice and off the ice throughout the day included in your skating ticket.

There will also be taster sessions for a variety of ice sports so that you can give them a try. It’s going to be the ultimate Easter day out!

Themed Parent & Tots Skate Sessions

Princess & Superheroes themed skate, Monday 3 April, 11:15am – 12:15pm, Adult tickets £5, children aged 5 and under skate for free

Teddy Bear’s Picnic themed skate, Friday 7 April, 11:15am – 12:15pm, Adult tickets £5, children aged 5 and under skate for free

Chicks & Bunnies themed skate, Monday 10 April, 11:15am – 12:15pm, Adult tickets £5, children aged 5 and under skate for free

There are some exciting themed parent & tots skates at the National Ice Centre this half term!

At these sessions, children aged 5 and under can build their confidence on the ice using our ice equipment as themed music plays.

A section of the ice rink is reserved exclusively for tots and parents/guardians only so there will be no older children on that part of the ice. It’s a calm environment for the children and you can even use pushchairs on the ice!

Stef Reid MBE: Public Skating Event

Saturday 8 April, 10am – 1pm

Stef Reid MBE will unveil her most recent portrait image taken by celebrity photographer, Sane Seven at the National Ice Centre.

The event will begin just after 10am with the Behind the Scenes project video and final image being shown on the venue screens. Stef will also be in Skate Hire to meet and greet with skaters during the session.

After her appearance on ITV’s Dancing On Ice in 2022, Stef signed up to the British Ice Skating Test programme. She regularly skates at the National Ice Centre and is the first lower leg amputee to take part in the British Ice Skating scheme. The National Ice Centre along with British Ice Skating is using this amazing project as an opportunity to highlight the drive to see beyond disability in ice skating and encourage more people to come and give the sport a go.

Intensive Skating Lessons

Tuesday 4, Wednesday 5 and Thursday 5 April, 12:30 – 1:30pm, £62 for the course

Tuesday 11, Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 April, 12:30 – 1:30pm, £62 for the course

Learn how to skate this Easter! At these popular sessions, fit the National Ice Centre’s six-week course into just three hours over three days. Skate hire is included in the course price.

Holiday Club

Monday 3 – Thursday 6 April, 8:30am – 5:30pm, £35 per person per day (price includes lunch and snacks)

Tuesday 11 – Friday 14 April, 8:30am – 5:30pm, £35 per person per day (price includes lunch and snacks)

At this Holiday Club, children can come every day for fun activities and ice skating between 8.30am – 5pm!

Open to children aged 7-13, there’s an exciting schedule which will help children to develop skills and boost confidence in preparation for their ice skating sessions.

Each day will be full of sporting activities, perfectly planned to enhance co-ordination, agility, and develop a wide range of other skills ready to transfer onto the ice. Children will then put all these into practice as staff help them learn some basic skating skills, designed to improve their experience of ice skating.

Guided arts and crafts activities will also be incorporated across the day to enhance self-expression, boost confidence, and provide a creative outlet. The schedule for each day is as follows and includes a healthy lunch and 2 hours of ice skating:

Arrival/Registration: 8.30am

Morning Activities: 9am – 11.45am (including drink and snack break)

Lunch: 11.45am – 12.45pm

Afternoon Activities: 12.45pm – 5pm (including drink and snack break)

Pick-up: 5 – 5.30pm

Spin, Spiral, Jump Competition

Thursday 6 April, 5:30 – 8:30pm

The “Eric Frost” Spin Spiral Jump Competition is a fun event open to skaters of all levels and abilities. It’s a great opportunity to showcase skating skills and boost confidence in a supportive and friendly environment.

Competition Simulation

Thursday 13 April, 5:30 – 8:30pm

Competition Simulation is an opportunity for skaters to perform their programs in the environment that they would experience in a real competition. Skaters of all levels that have competitive programs are welcome to enter.

Junior Ice Hockey Clinic

Monday 3 April, 9:30am – 5:30pm, £40 per person

Friday 14 April, 9am – 4:30pm, £40 per person

At these ice hockey clinics, players of all abilities have the chance to get on the ice and improve their ice hockey skills whilst having fun!

Junior Cross-Ice Competition

Friday 7 April, 11.30am – 5.30pm, £25 per person

Players aged 12 and under can sign up, get drafted to a team and then compete on our ice rink and learn skills. The event is set to be a fun and enjoyable experience for all involved!

Adult Ice Hockey Clinic

Saturday 8 April, 9:30am – 10am – 6pm, £45 per person

At this ice hockey clinic, players of all abilities have the chance to get on the ice and improve their ice hockey skills whilst having fun!

Students: £6 (must present physical student ID card – NUS app not accepted)

Active Nottingham Members: £6 (must present Active Nottingham card)

Food and drinks will be available and seasonal treats can be enjoyed in the Sub Zero café before, during or after skating.
