Redsmith Distillery produces hand sanitiser for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

Redsmith Distillery is the only gin maker and distillery in the city of Nottingham. Based in Sneinton Market right in the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, Redsmith have been producing gin since 2016. The distillery’s signature spirit, Redsmith London Dry Gin was launched in 2016 following three years of development and has picked up several top awards. In October 2016 the gin won “Gin of the Year” at the Craft Distilling Expo. at a time to coincide with London Cocktail week.

Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, HMRC has made it possible for bonded trade facility warehouses to denature alcohol in order to make hand sanitiser. Redsmith Distillery, being such an operation, initially made a small batch of sanitising hand rub and donated this to local businesses and charities.

Production of the hand sanitiser at the distillery has now increased and it is supplied to Nottingham City Council and it’s also available to buy from Blend Coffee Shop at Sneinton Market.

Redsmith hand sanitiser is made to World Health Organisation specification and is 80% alcohol by volume. It is currently available in handy 100ml bottles and also larger 5 litre containers.

Redsmith sanitising hand rub is not available on the website as due to the high alcohol content it is not cost effective to ship by courier, so with this in mind it is really intended to be supplied for use locally in the Nottinghamshire area.
